Welcome!
Welcome to the home of Mutt Hutts, a company years in the making. Inspired by a natural love for animals, building, details and the desire to maximize quality of life for pets and pet owners alike, owner Alex Kluka and company mascot Kitty Kluka began collecting tools and creating over a decade ago.

What is Mutt Hutts?
Mutt Hutts is a woodworking and construction business, but it's really a culmination of some of my life's greatest passions. The name is inspired by a concept that I fell in love with over 10 years ago, and one that you may have seen on the internet over the years as well: building a dog apartment underneath the stairwell in your house. As a lifelong dog owner and best friend, I couldn't help but think how nice it was for a dog to have a space of its own and be treated to a long life of luxury and health.

My love for animals and knack for building and construction sent me on a mission to learn everything I could about woodwork from joinery, fasteners, tool safety and functionality to wood species, carpentry, trim, and finishing. My learnings have inspired me to build dozens of fun projects, from a picnic table for squirrels to a floating shelf specifically designed for Peloton cleats to countless variants of cedar planter boxes. Though these aren't the things that I imagined building a decade ago, each project has taught me a lesson (or a few), and I'm grateful for them all.
Now fully equipped - literally, with tools, but also with knowledge - Mutt Hutts of today is a full-service consultant, designer and builder of unique spaces for your home or your dog's home, as well as a provider of off the shelf products which improve the lives of dogs and dog lovers alike.
Who is Mutt Hutts?
The company is owned and operated by me, Alex Kluka. It's been my lifelong dream to start this company, and I'm extremely proud and excited to be here.

My journey started in Aston, PA, where I grew up hammering together whatever I could find in my parent's garage. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Civil Engineering at Temple University and hold a Professional Structural Engineering license in New Jersey. I spent half a dozen years post-graduation trying, frustratingly, to expand my woodworking talents in 50 square foot Philadelphia backyards and dingy basements. Along the way, I amassed a collection of experience and skills that, when I finally made the move across the bridge, allowed me to build out a proper workshop and kick this thing off.
